Well, well, well. Guess who's getting hitched? That's right. HER. Mild misogynist out to save the men of the world. Let me tell you her love story as she told us...
Boyfriend 1: She was crazy about goldfish. He bought her five. She dated him. The fish began to die. Her mother prayed that the fish would all die and that she'd get past this foolish phase. Fish died. Foolish phase? Still going.
Boyfriend 2: He was a mission. He was a drunk but he was in love with her. He looked like her bodyguard. Or...someone who cleaned up after her. Beauty & the Beast, if I may say so myself. She stayed with him to change him. She bought him clothes so that he wouldn't look so shoddy when they were together. He joined a gang. She got pissed. But did she break up with him? Nooo. Foolish phase? Oh yeah, still going.
Boyfriend 3: Is a foreigner. Is in love with her. Is going to help her get out of here. Is quite good-looking...ahem...still, he's no Brad Pitt. Is now her fiance. When we asked her: "Do you love him?" I immediately assumed that Ms. Misogynist would say: "Of course, why would I marry him if I didn't?" and stuff like that, denying any allegations that she was marrying him for his money and foreigner status. Well, as usual, she surprised ALL of us by saying the exact opposite. She told us how she could not truthfully say that she has ever been in love. She told us that she has never cried for a boy and the only time she cried for him was when she was terribly angry with him.
This changes everything. I wonder now if there is any truth in the ideals of LOVE. My friends believe in it, I believe in it. Yes, love exists. Of that I'm sure. What comes to mind now is that proverbial, undying question: WHAT IS LOVE? a feeling that you feel when you're feeling a feeling that you've never felt before? If you've never felt like puking until you just shrivel up and die and then suddenly your bestfriend gets shot in the head and you suddenly feel like puking until you just shrivel up and die...is that love?
I'm confused, I'm at a loss for words. I do believe that love exists and that people who love find their ways to each other and...oh, I don't know...get married, maybe - if that is the ultimate gesture of love. I don't know...I'm sure you're confused with the things I'm saying and I'll understand - because I'm confused as well. I can hardly think straight.
So cut for now, Midori wants her turn.
